Career Details
Tina has recently joined Merit Solutions as a trusted human resource practitioner with over 30 years’ experience in a diverse range of settings including not-for-profit organisations, state government, associations, peak bodies, vocational education and training and community services.
Tina has held a variety of senior roles including Operations Manager, People, Culture and Compliance Manager and worked for five years as General Manager of Education, Events and Operations for an aged care organisation. She has also worked extensively as a consultant and project manager leading change and advising on compliance.
Tina has a proven record of success across all areas of business including human resource management, finance, work, health and safety, learning and development, compliance, governance and risk management. Implementing a risk management and strategic workforce planning approach, Tina balances the needs of all stakeholders to achieve successful human resource management outcomes which align to both operational and strategic goals of organisations.
Recruitment and Selection, Shortlisting, Scribing
A seasoned panel member and chair, Tina is able to apply practical skills including shortlisting, interviewing, scribing at interviews, providing comprehensive selection reports, obtaining referee reports and candidate feedback across all levels of government. Her extensive experience, skills and knowledge ensures unbiased, professional, insightful and evidence-based advice across all aspects of recruitment and selection practices.
As a Queensland state government employee for many years, Tina worked across a number of disciplines with particular focus on recruitment and selection, performance management, grievances and investigations. During her time in the state government, she contributed to the development and implementation of State-wide recruitment and selection policies and practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
People, Policy and Practices
Tina has built strong purposeful relationships with stakeholders including government, industry, and not-for-profit organisations providing professional consulting services on job analysis and evaluation, recruitment and selection, discipline, training programs, strategic planning, induction programs, professional supervision, performance management programs, grievance investigation, workforce planning, workplace health and safety, organisational reviews, policy and procedure development, employment contracts and audits.
Learning and Development
Tina has a genuine passion and commitment to life-long learning, shaping, and influencing learning in workplaces and within the vocational education and training sector. She has delivered accredited training from Certificate III to Advanced Diploma levels in the areas of recruitment and selection, performance management, workforce planning, leadership, operational and strategic human resource management and workplace health and safety. Tina has authored articles emphasising the value of workplace learning, and is a strong advocate for language, literacy and numeracy programs within the workplace.
Workforce Planning
Possessing a unique combination of innovation and creativity, Tina has worked with a myriad of organisations to create meaningful and purposeful workforce plans to assist organisations forecasting future workforce needs by anticipating change and assessing gaps, particularly in skills shortage environments. Through a holistic approach to recruitment and succession planning, Tina has successfully guided organisations to bridge the gap between current and future workforce needs and has been effective in achieving key performance indicators specific to reducing staff turnover and absenteeism.
Audit and Compliance
As a Quality Auditor, Tina is experienced in compliance with several Standards, particularly in the vocational, education and training industry, the aged care and disability industries and the community services sector. As a skilled report writer and a critical and analytical thinker, Tina adopts an ethical, flexible and realistic practice to audits, and has had great success in assisting organisations prepare for audits.
Other Achievements
Tina has successfully managed State and Federal government contracts in relation to workforce and has represented the aged care and disability industries at the National level leading change across education and training.
